That is how fans of the White Sox feel about the team. After having pretty much no expectations, the team was in first place at the All-Star break. There were some hints that maybe this could be a good year for the team toward the end of spring training. They were playing well. They were scoring runs. Some of last season’s most notorious bums on the team were playing well during the spring.
It was enough to make fans drink the kool-aid. And drink we did. It has turned out that the drink has been quite delicious so far this season. After a series win against the Royals yesterday, the Sox are now four games in front of the Indians and 3.5 ahead of the Tigers. The Tigers managed to leap frog the Indians yesterday with their win over the Orioles and the Blue Jays beating the Indians. I don’t expect things to get any easier from now until the end of the season. In fact, given that no one has taken charge yet, things could continue to see saw.
Last week, I asked on Twitter what song would best sum up the first half of the season. In addition to the songs below, I also got a lot of phrases to describe the team. The best word had to be “expectationbusters” submitted by Night Train. So, to get your Monday started, here are a few songs to enjoy that sum up the White Sox and their first half of the baseball season.
Of course, we have to start with the 2005 rally cry song:
A little Led Zeppelin. Fortunately, there haven’t been many bad times to outweigh the good times
This is a team that seems to have a different guy who is the star of the game each night when things go right
If you thought this team would be where they are, then you are 1) lying or 2) blindly believe no matter what evidence is presented otherwise (if it is number two, I salute you, you optimist):
So the personnel in 2011 is mainly the same as the guys in 2012. But the 2012 version is SO MUCH BETTER than the 2011 version was:

If you’d like to listen to these songs, I’ve created a Spotify play list for them. And if you missed the off season White Sox play list, it is there too. Any other songs that describe this team in the first half that need to be on the list? Let me know in the comments and I will amend the play list
