Conference Call with Tom Paciorek and Robin Ventura

As I’m sure you’re all fully aware, SoxFest is this weekend. Fans from all over will flock downtown to meet some of their favorite players and hear some of them in panels. Before SoxFest starts, the White Sox wanted to give season ticket holders a chance to talk to Tom Paciorek and Robin Ventura during a conference call this afternoon.

As with every other season ticket holder chat, Gene Honda moderated the call, and we started with Wimpy. He’ll be a big part of SoxFest this weekend, as it will partly be a celebrationg of the 1983 “Winning Ugly” team. Wimpy is excited to be there this weekend with a great group of guys and a great coaching staff. Happenings at 35th & Shields

First cuts of the spring came Wednesday, March 9th. Lucas Harrell and Jhonny Nunez were assigned to AAA Charlotte. Kyle Bellamy, Charlie Leesman, Josh Phegley, Brandon Short and Jared Price were sent to minor league camp. Harrell who was talked about as a potential 5th starter until Peavy came back did himself no favors during his outings this spring. He had an ERA of 20.25 in 2 games, one of which was a start. Happenings at 35th & Shields

Yay! Today is the day we’ve been waiting for: PITCHERS & CATCHERS REPORT. Now that camp has officially begun, there will be plenty of stuff happening on the south side and it means that things are slowly ramping up to the beginning of the season. And of course, non-stop talk about baseball (which, let’s be real, who DOESN’T love talking baseball).

As for things happening on the South Side: Gordon Beckham feels he has something to prove this season. Although today Pitchers and Catchers report to camp today, Bacon, along with a few other position players have already arrived. Bacon says he was probably too comfortable last season and this season that won’t be the case. Of all people to help to mentor him, is AJ PIERZYNSKI, the resident “bad-boy” on the team himself. They have lockers next to each other this right now and AJ hopes to help Beckham better draw boundaries with his time so that Beckham can focus on the game and what he needs to do there. » Continue reading “Happenings at 35th & Shields”
