So far there have been two days of SoxFest. Today was the final day and it did live up to expectations. The first couple of days there was a lot of talk of chemistry. How well do the players get along? How well does everyone like each other. How much is everyone working toward the same goal? Is everyone pulling on the rope in the same direction? Hopefully you followed along on twitter to know what was been happening in the sessions. If not, you should have as there were lots of fun little nuggets that come up. Such as me realizing I don’t despise Tom “Wimpy” Paciorek as much as I have in the past. And Tony La Russa doesn’t seem quite as douchey as I am used to seeing him be.
As I am sure you know by now, the 1983 team is being celebrated this season, including wearing the 1983 uniform on Sunday home games. There had far been a couple of panels with some members of that team as well as other panels where members of the team talked in general. Additionally, there was a panel featuring Aaron Rowand, Joe Crede, Jermaine Dye and Paul Konerko discussing the 2005 team. » Continue reading “SoxFest 2013 All About Chemistry So Far”

Hello Sox Fans!!!! Sorry that I have been away from talking to you. Unfortunately, my “real” job got in the way of me keeping up as meticulously as I should with White Sox news of late. However, hopefully you’ve been kept abreast of what has been happening with the team.
So far this off season, we’ve seen some decent re-signings as well as having to say goodbye to old favorites we all love for one reason or another. And now that it is late January, we might be starting to get itchy for baseball. The World Baseball Classic will soon be starting up, which will slightly fill the role of the game until Opening Day. Speaking of WBC, congratulatiosn to Jesse Crain (Team Canada), Alex Rios, Hector Santiago, Andy Gonzalez (Team Puerto Rico) and Andre Rienzo (Team Brazil) on their participation. But of course, the big news is that SoxFest is next weekend. Are you going to be there? If not, no worries as I will be there again to live tweet what is happening. Be sure to follow me on Twitter for all the happenings at SoxFest. » Continue reading “Spring Is On The Way”

why, WHY is Kaufmann the new house of horrors where the White Sox just cannot win?
You know things won’t be good when your lead off man gets on base, gets to third and doesn’t end up scoring in the first inning. Doesn’t help either when in the bottom of the first inning, “fundamental” get ‘em on, get ‘em over and get ‘em in works perfectly.
And of course, who can forget all the errors. It was clown shoes tonight for the White Sox who generally catch the ball. The Royals had an error as well, but unfortunately, the Sox were unable to capitalize on that error. The Royals on the other hand? They were all over scoring on miscues of the White Sox.
At least the Sox were not shut out. There was danger of that as Bruce “Cy” Chen was mowing the Sox down. Retiring countless batters and just making the hitters look . . . turrible. The second hit of the game wouldn’t come until the fifth inning when Dayan Viciedo led off with a single. More followed, but just like the first inning, nothing doing in terms of scoring.
Paul Konerko FINALLY got the White Sox on the board with a two-run home run in the sixth. After the home run, Cy got the rest of the outs in the sixth and then departed the game. » Continue reading “New House Of Horrors: White Sox 4 PITAs 9″

Well, the team continues to not win in Cactus League action. Yesterday’s loss against the Royals ended in a final score of 8-3. Mark Buehrle’s record is now 0-1. His line on sunday: 3IP, 9H, 5R, 5ER, 0K, 0BB. Hopefully his stinkers for the season are out of the way with today’s outing. Defensively, the team committed no errors today, which is a huge plus. Keep in an eye on Shane Lindsay, who is making a serious push and is in consideration for a final bullpen spot. Also watch for Brian Bruney as well who is trying to make a case for himself.
In money matters, congratulations to Matt Thornton, who signed an extension to keep him with the club through the 2013 season. His new deal is for $12M total (paying $5.5M in both 2012 and 2013) with a club option of $6M for the 2014 season. If the team doesn’t pick up the option, they can buy him out at $1M. » Continue reading “Money and Batting Stances”
