Oh Em Gee They Done Done It! White Sox Win Season Series Against Yanks

With the 7-3 win tonight, the White Sox have done something they haven’t done since 2003: they won a season series against the Yankees. This season, the two played each other seven times. When the series began, it was tied two wins for each team. Tonight, the Sox won their second game in a row meaning they have four wins in the season series. In other words:  SERIES WIN!

This is big news folks. Even in looking at the all-time series record, the Yankees have walloped the Sox. Tonight, the tables were turned and the Sox did a little beating of their own.  » Continue reading “Oh Em Gee They Done Done It! White Sox Win Season Series Against Yanks”

Bad Gavin Strikes Again, But Homers Save Sox

Oh sweet victory, how I have missed you lately! It’s always a happy day in my book when the White Sox beat the Yankees, and tonight was no different, as the Sox picked up the 9-6 win.

Gavin Floyd was the starter tonight, and just like basically every other game Gavin ever starts, I was left wondering whether we’d see Good Gavin or Bad Gavin. And boy did we see Bad Gavin. He left the game in the third with a really gross-looking line: three runs on five hits and four walks in 2.1 innings pitched. Not pretty, Gavin. Sooooo not pretty. He also hit Raul Ibanez, so Gavin recorded seven outs and allowed ten batters to reach base.

Robin pulled him in favor of Hector Santiago who pitched three innings. He didn’t have a much better line, as he gave up three runs on four hits and three walks. He had two wild pitches as well, so it was a bit of an experience watching these first two pitchers. » Continue reading “Bad Gavin Strikes Again, But Homers Save Sox”

TAAAAAAAAAAAAANK!

The Sox headed to New York to face the Yankees for the first time this season. It may be an opportune time to face them, as they lost both CC Sabathia and Andy Pettitte to injuries yesterday.

The Sox sent rookie Dylan Axelrod to the mound to face Ivan Nova. Nova already has nine wins on the season, and Axelrod was looking for his first in a game the Sox won 4-3. » Continue reading “TAAAAAAAAAAAAANK!”

Sale Shines as Sox Score a Dozen

As you’re probably aware by now, the White Sox beat the Twins in the series finale today, 12-5. It was kind of fantastic, if I do say so myself. For all the struggles the Sox had in the Metrodome, they’re having some better luck now that the Twins play in Target Field. Since Target Field opened in 2010, the Sox are 11-10 there.

Chris Sale continued on with his amazing start to the season, picking up his ninth win and dropping his ERA to 2.27. Of his 93 pitches, 64 were for strikes, and Sale only walked one batter. He did give up two runs, one being a homer in the fifth, but he only allowed six hits over seven innings.

Praise Be To All Things Sacred, Holy & Good

The White Sox actually scored a run in the first game of a four-game set against the Yankees!!! The scoreless inning streak ended at 23.1 innings. Carlos Quentin had hit a double and then was able to advance to third on a ball sharply hit by Paul Konerko to Robinson Cano who then threw The King out. Up next to bat was the Big Donkey. The Yankees were playing with the shift on him and Adam hit the ball to Jeter for a 6-3 out. More importantly, The Carlos Quentin was able to score a run. ESPN’s broadcast showed Ozzie in the dugout cheering, clapping and almost dancing at the scoreless streak ending.  » Continue reading “Praise Be To All Things Sacred, Holy & Good”
