John Danks and His Shoulder

As we learned on Monday night, John Danks has a mild Grade 1 subscapularis strain. Team doctor Greg Nicholson said there was no tendon or ligament damage, and the labrum is intact. Trainer Herm Schneider said Danks will start a rehab and strengthening program on Friday.

I read all this, and my immediate thought was, “What is a subscapularis tear?” I knew it had something to do with the shoulder, but that’s about it. So I went out and did some research to better explain what Danks’ issue is. » Continue reading “John Danks and His Shoulder”

Jealousy

That is what I am experiencing right now. All other MLB teams have had games. Actual spring games. None of that inter squad stuff. I still have to wait one. More. Day. It is going to seem like forever until Monday at 2:05 pm when the Sox will play their first game. Hopefully I will be able to listen to the game. Life will seem right again since baseball will be back.

Maybe you too are missing baseball a ton as well. If so, hopefully the following will keep you occupied for a bit. There are of course, other spring games going on, but nothing really fills the void like getting to see your own team play.

Video games are such a wonderful thing. They help the time pass and for two catchers, it can help them get to know one another.

Play fantasy baseball? Then you are probably very interested in the White Sox health report put together on Sports Illustrated.

South Side Hits: February 22, 2012 White Sox News of Note

Happy Wednesday. Just hours away until PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT! It always seems like it takes FOREVER for the Sox to report to camp. Part of it is that the team is a lot of veterans. Though, they aren’t the very last to report for camp. On the bright side, we won’t have to wait as long to get to see real games. That will be on March 5th at 2pm for the first game. Woohoo!!! Until things start to get interesting, here are some interesting stories to hopefully keep you satisfied with Sox news.

You remember LHP Neal Cotts? He was recently at SoxFest. And now he is trying to get back into baseball by signing a minor league deal with the Texas Rangers.

Doug Padilla continues previewing the Sox with the infield and outfield. » Continue reading “South Side Hits: February 22, 2012 White Sox News of Note”

A site fans want to see after every game

Happy Monday and MLK Day! If you have the day off, great. If not, sorry  you can’t extend the weekend a little bit longer. Hopefully the weekend was good for you. If you are a football fan, I hope you got what you wanted out of the games. Sadly, I did not, but that just means i can focus on getting ready for baseball season now.

As for news with the Sox, not a lot going on, except a certain Dirt Bag did make some news with an interview he gave with Chris Rongey on White Sox Weekly. If you didn’t get a chance to listen, you really should. Actually, you HAVE to listen to this interview. » Continue reading “South Side Hits: January 16, 2012 White Sox Links”

Ken Williams & Company Really Don’t Want Me Hating Right Now

In case you didn’t know, I have a season ticket for the White Sox. Being a season ticket holder has some perks. Such as today being able to sit in on a conference call with new manager Robin Ventura. It was pretty cool that we were able to ask questions of him and also to be able to say “welcome back” or “thanks for choosing to work with the White Sox” on the call.

When I first heard about this through a phone call yesterday from Robin himself, I was thinking wow, the management is really working hard to win me over. Particularly after a bad season of huge disappointment when a team that was supposed to be All In were really anything but.

It will be a bumpy ride potentially, but I am *starting* to get excited about what 2012 may hold. And if Ken and his guys keep doing such events, then I will be far less inclined to hate him and stuff he’s done. Below are the questions and answers from the session summarized. » Continue reading “Ken Williams & Company Really Don’t Want Me Hating Right Now”

Bats Bail on Buehrle

Mark Buehrle pitched well through seven innings, but the White Sox failed to give him enough run support for a win. The Blue Jays beat the Sox 4-2.

Buehrle lasted seven innings, giving up three runs on nine hits and two walks. The Blue Jays scored in the first inning. Buehrle gave up a lead off single to Yunel Escobar who eventually scored on a Juan Rivera double. Aaron Hill led off the fourth with a single to left and scored when Rajai Davis tripled to center.

Dodging A Bullet

Thursday, an article came out about Scott Boras taking issue with some statements that Jerry Reinsdorf made with regard to signing Joe Crede to a long-term deal. The statements that have Boras in a tizzy:

Asked about how he determines when to commit to a young player, as the White Sox did this offseason in extending Ramirez for at least four years, Reinsdorf was honest in saying, “First, Kenny and [assistant GM] Rick [Hahn] have to say they want to commit to a guy. It’s different for each player [as to] when is the right time. And you can be wrong. You can obviously make a mistake.”

Then, he cited a onetime fan favorite.

“Sometimes, the agent makes a mistake. We were ready to commit to Joe Crede, and Scott Boras didn’t [want to] talk about it. Look what that’s cost Crede.” » Continue reading “Dodging A Bullet”
