Fun Times. Or Not

Initial observations before the game began: this line up versus CC Sabathia = doom from the start. Not to mention the Yankees were introduced with Imperial March playing. Sure, such thoughs ar self-defeatist, but completely normal given how this White Sox team is. Oh and the best player was not on the field after getting hit by a pitch in Sunday’s game.

The man who provided White Sox offense for the night

No matter as somehow the scored remained quite close. Early on, Jake “Dirt Bag” Peavy was throwing a lot of pitches. The runs he gave up were early and due primarily to the speediness of Brett Gardner and Curtis Granderson. Despite all of the talk of Dirt Bag being gassed after 75 pitches or the fourth inning, it was early on that things became a worry.

Of course, by the time Peavy hit around 80 pitches, I didn’t see much activity in the bullpen. Eventually Chris Sale was up and he came into the game in the eighth inning finally. Dirt Bag ended up throwing 115 pitches total. The appearance was less scary than usual only because the damage was done early.

The Sox did get back into the game in the fourth inning when Alexei Ramirez hit a two-run home run. There was hope! Except, CC has never had his teams give up a three-run lead over the White Sox. Of course, tonight was not going to be the day this would change. CC is now 18-4 career against the White Sox.  » Continue reading “Fun Times. Or Not”

That Was Embarrassing

The White Sox looked to take three of four games from the Yankees. However, behind Edwin Jackson’s atrocious pitching, the Sox were blown out, 12-3.

Jackson lasted 4.0+ innings and did NOT pitch well at all. In those innings, he gave up four hits and five walks. Four of those walks came in the third inning, two of them came around to score.

Leaping Lillibridge!

The White Sox did something no one else has done this short season: they beat the Yankees two games in a row. Yes, the White Sox won again, giving the Yankees their first losing streak of the season.

Behind the stellar pitching of Gavin Floyd, the Sox beat the Yankees 3-2. Floyd almost got into trouble in the first. Curtis Granderson hit a ball hard to center field, but Alex Rios was there to rob him of a home run and a hit. In the second, Floyd wasn’t as lucky. Robinson Cano hit his fifth homer of the season to right field.
