oh em gee! he is capable of not sucking!
A win in Kansas City? Against the Royals? Surely you jest! But no, the Sox actually did get a win tonight at Kansas City by beating the Royals by a final of 3-2.Tonight it was all via the home run that the Sox scored their runs.
Alejandro De Aza led off the game with a solo shot. That was nice to see considering that Mr. Consistently Inconsistent was starting tonight. Gavin has typically given up runs right away in a game that makes you think the Sox have no hope for a comeback. And he lived up to that tonight by giving up the lead right away to the Royals by walking the first batter and having two hits following to put them up by a score of 2-1 in the first inning. Fortunately, Luke Hochevar was feeling in a giving mood tonight and surrendered the tying run to Gordon Beckham in the sixth inning when he hit a solo shot. » Continue reading “Solo Jacks Keep Sox Ahead”

continuing domination
Chris Sale started against Bartolo Colón. I think it is pretty safe to say, Chris Sale was going to come out on top in this battle. Sure, the Sox haven’t walked much and Bartolo doesn’t walk guys much but who cares? Especially when the game turned into a “how not to play short stop show by Cliff Pennington.” Cliff had two errors today and also a collision with Adam Rosales. The collision with Rosales led to AJ Pierzynski scoring from first base.
Some may be shocked by AJ doing this, but when no one is covering third base and then no one is covering home, well you should expect this sort of thing with a guy who is one of, if not the smartest guys in the game. Just another reason to give another team legitimate reason to hate him? Maybe, but when the defense plays like that, it’s hard to blame a guy who was heads’s up about what was happening on the field who took advantage to give his team an insurance run. » Continue reading “White Sox Take Advantage And Win Series Finale Against A’s”

61-50 this season
What a game last night. At least the ending. A walk off home run and it was also a first major league home run? Yes, it is what people who love baseball drama live to see. Tonight, the drama will continue with Robin sending out the following guys to win:
Alejandro De Aza CF, Youk 3B, Big Donkey 1B, Alex Rios RF, AJ Pierzynski C, The Cuban Missile SS, The Cuban Tank LF, Tyler Flowers C, Bacon 2B.
Francisco Liriano will start for the Sox tonight. Liriano will be making his second home start of the season. So far, he has not been able to pick up a win with his new team. In his last start, he got a no decision against the Angels where he allowed just one run on four hits in five innings. He ended up leaving this start early after getting hit in his left leg.
In his career against Oakland, Liriano is 3-4 with a 3.96 ERA in 13 career games. The last time he faced them, he was still with the Twins. In that game, he struck out a career-high 15 batters, but he did end up taking the loss. Tonight, he will be hoping to grab his first win as a member of the White Sox. » Continue reading “Another Night Of Drama? White Sox V Athletics August 11, 2012″

The game started off in typical Mr. Consistently Inconsistent fashion. He gives up runs early. He’s throwing a ton of pitches early. Though, mercifully tonight, he decided not to use 42 of them in the first inning. Though, as annoying as Gavin Floyd was in the first couple of innings, he did finally settle down and throw scoreless innings for four innings. » Continue reading “Danks A Million”

60-50 this season
Another day, another grind. Time for the Sox to get back at it after dropping the series earlier in the week to the Royals. Tonight, they will face the Athletics and former Sox pitcher Brandon McCarthy will be making a return visit to Chicago.
To get back on track, Robin is sending out the following guys to slow down the surging A’s:
Alejandro De Aza CF, Youk 3B, Big Donkey 1B, Alex Rios RF, AJ Pierzynski C, The Cuban Missile SS, The Cuban Tank DH, Jordan Danks LF, Bacon 2B.
Mr. Consistently Inconsistent will start tonight for the Sox. Lately, Gavin has been fairly decent at home, though his last start against the Angels last weekend was anything but. In his prior four starts at home, Gavin is 3-0 with a 2.39 ERA. He has also managed to go at least six innings in all of those starts.
As for his last start against the Angels, he got a no decision after allowing five runs on eight hits in 6.1 innings. He did strike out six and issue three walks. The biggest problem was that Gavin was wild from the start in that game. He even got the Bronx cheer when he managed to throw just one strike in the first inning. Given how he started in that game, it is rather amazing he managed to settle down enough to get in at least six innings. » Continue reading “The Return: White Sox V Athletics August 10, 2012″
