SoxFest 2013 All About Chemistry So Far

So far there have been two days of SoxFest. Today was the final day and it did live up to expectations. The first couple of days there was a lot of talk of chemistry.  How well do the players get along? How well does everyone like each other. How much is everyone working toward the same goal? Is everyone pulling on the rope in the same direction? Hopefully you followed along on twitter to know what was been happening in the sessions. If not, you should have as there were lots of fun little nuggets that come up. Such as me realizing I don’t despise Tom “Wimpy” Paciorek as much as I have in the past. And Tony La Russa doesn’t seem quite as douchey as I am used to seeing him be.

As I am sure you know by now, the 1983 team is being celebrated this season, including wearing the 1983 uniform on Sunday home games. There had far been a couple of panels with some members of that team as well as other panels where members of the team talked in general. Additionally, there was a panel featuring Aaron Rowand, Joe Crede, Jermaine Dye and Paul Konerko discussing the 2005 team. » Continue reading “SoxFest 2013 All About Chemistry So Far”

Spring Is On The Way

Hello Sox Fans!!!! Sorry that I have been away from talking to you. Unfortunately, my “real” job got in the way of me keeping up as meticulously as I should with White Sox news of late. However, hopefully you’ve been kept abreast of what has been happening with the team.

So far this off season, we’ve seen some decent re-signings as well as having to say goodbye to old favorites we all love for one reason or another. And now that it is late January, we might be starting to get itchy for baseball. The World Baseball Classic will soon be starting up, which will slightly fill the role of the game until Opening Day. Speaking of WBC, congratulatiosn to Jesse Crain (Team Canada), Alex Rios, Hector Santiago, Andy Gonzalez (Team Puerto Rico) and Andre Rienzo (Team Brazil) on their participation. But of course, the big news is that SoxFest is next weekend. Are you going to be there? If not, no worries as I will be there again to live tweet what is happening. Be sure to follow me on Twitter for all the happenings at SoxFest. » Continue reading “Spring Is On The Way”

It’s Getting Real: White Sox @ Rays May 29, 2012

27--22 this season

The Sox are on a  six-game winning streak. The King has a 14-game hitting streak. Cool Standings has updated its predictions for the AL Central and think the Sox have a 76.7% chance of making the playoffs. Oh and win 93 games to win the AL Central.

Stuff is getting real. Like, this team may actually have a chance to win it all real. Tonight, Robin is sending out the following guys in hopes of winning the series against the Rays and keep on rolling:

Alejandro De Aza CF, Bacon 2B, Big Donkey DH, The King 1B, Alex Rios RF, AJ Pierzynski C, The Cuban Tank LF, The Cuban Missile SS, O-Dog 3B.

Philip Humber will start tonight. Philip has been pitching better of late, but is still looking for that elusive second win.

In his last start, Philip got a no-decision against the Twins. It wasn’t a very good outing where he threw 4.1 innings and allowed five runs on six hits. He did strike out four while walking three. » Continue reading “It’s Getting Real: White Sox @ Rays May 29, 2012″

South Side Hits: December 14, 2011 White Sox Links

Ah mid-December. Between the end of Winter Meetings and the holiday season, it seems like nothing much goes on. There are a few signings here and there, but otherwise it’s kind of dull until arbitration starts.

But it’s still mid-December, which means spring training is coming ever closer. I, for one, am excited because I miss baseball. I love the other Chicago sports teams, but I miss baseball.

To tide you over, here’s a few stories from the past couple days.

In Scott Merkin’s latest Inbox, he answers questions on topics such as the future closer position and the rebuilding phase the Sox are in.

The White Sox tendered contracts to both John Danks and Carlos Quentin, both of whom are in their last season as arbitration-eligible players.

Former White Sox and one of my favorites Aaron Rowand signed a minor league contract with the Miami Marlins.

James Fegan addressed the idea of trading Gordon Beckham.

Larry at South Side Sox ranked the top ten prospects in the system. And it was “painfully difficult.”

Enjoy the reading and hope you have a great day!

South Side Hits: November 28, 2011 White Sox Links

It’s a new week. Hope your Turkey Day weekend was fun and if you went shopping, it was worth it and more importantly, you were nice to people. There are still plenty of shopping days before the big December holiday. And of course, today is Cyber Monday where you can get all kinds of great deals online. Enjoy that shopping. It would be nice if the White Sox could go shopping too, but doesn’t look they will be able to.

As for the news of the wekend and day:

South Side Sox takes a look back at a trade that rocked some Sox fans’ world.

Hardball Talk says the Sox may have misread the market for Mark Buehrle.

In more Mark news, Rob Neyer says he won’t come cheap or short.

Interest in a Cincinatti Reds prospect? Perhaps» Continue reading “South Side Hits: November 28, 2011 White Sox Links”
