New House Of Horrors: White Sox 4 PITAs 9

why, WHY is Kaufmann the new house of horrors where the White Sox just cannot win?

You know things won’t be good when your lead off man gets on base, gets to third and doesn’t end up scoring in the first inning. Doesn’t help either when in the bottom of the first inning, “fundamental” get ‘em on, get ‘em over and get ‘em in works perfectly.

And of course, who can forget all the errors. It was clown shoes tonight for the White Sox who generally catch the ball. The Royals had an error as well, but unfortunately, the Sox were unable to capitalize on that error. The Royals on the other hand? They were all over scoring on miscues of the White Sox.

At least the Sox were not shut out. There was danger of that as Bruce “Cy”  Chen was mowing the Sox down. Retiring countless batters and just making the hitters look . . . turrible. The second hit of the game wouldn’t come until the fifth inning when Dayan Viciedo led off with a single. More followed, but just like the first inning, nothing doing in terms of scoring.

Paul Konerko FINALLY got the White Sox on the board with a two-run home run in the sixth. After the home run, Cy got the rest of the outs in the sixth and then departed the game. » Continue reading “New House Of Horrors: White Sox 4 PITAs 9″

White Sox Lose in Extras

You can go read a box score and other recaps of today’s fiasco. Other than seeing The King hit 400, there really is only one thing to say about that game today

I can’t even be happy that the road trip was a success. After seeing lots of stupid bunting attempts and just plain stupid stuff on the field, well, the above says it all.

They’ll be home tomorrow. Hopefully the plane ride home forces the heads to get on straight.

Guessing Games With The King

This past weekend saw The King hit his 397th career home run. Just three shy of 400.

Earlier, I had a post about guessing when he would hit number 400. And I’m going to try again. Tell me when you think he will hit number 400. Not only can you win a replica Frank Thomas statue, but I will also throw in a Roger Bossard Bobblehead.

To enter, it is really simple. Just leave a date in the comments of when you think number 400 will occur. If no one guesses the right day, then I will pick from among those who were within three days of the milestone.

It will be random as to who the winner is from all the correct guesses. You know you want a replica statue and bobblehead. » Continue reading “Guessing Games With The King”

Failure

waiting your turn to try and not make an out

That is probably the best word to describe the game of baseball. It is a game that is built around how much you can limit the failure that you will inevitably encounter. The White Sox last season went through one of the ugliest stretches of failure one could imagine for a team. Particularly when you consider the start the team had to begin the season.

Though, there were some hints of the failure to come, even in that first game. In that first game, the Sox had a 14 – 0 lead on the Indians by the end of the fifth inning. By the end of that game, the Sox would score only one more run. Should have been enough, except the Indians came back fiercely and scored ten runs of their own. » Continue reading “Failure”
