South Side Hits: February 22, 2012 White Sox News of Note

Happy Wednesday. Just hours away until PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT! It always seems like it takes FOREVER for the Sox to report to camp. Part of it is that the team is a lot of veterans. Though, they aren’t the very last to report for camp. On the bright side, we won’t have to wait as long to get to see real games. That will be on March 5th at 2pm for the first game. Woohoo!!! Until things start to get interesting, here are some interesting stories to hopefully keep you satisfied with Sox news.

You remember LHP Neal Cotts? He was recently at SoxFest. And now he is trying to get back into baseball by signing a minor league deal with the Texas Rangers.

Doug Padilla continues previewing the Sox with the infield and outfield.

Herm “Dr. Pain” Schneider the best in the biz of keeping this team healthy? Perhaps so as there are no major medical issues facing the team right  now.

Gaper’s Block takes a look at the closer situation with the Sox.

James takes a look at some of the better moments in Sox history starting with the emergence of Gavin Floyd.

Midwest Sports Fans says there are some reasons for us Sox fans to be unreasonably optimistic this season.

Enjoy the day and soon enough we WILL have games to watch and things to dissect for the upcoming season 8-)

I find Doug Padilla’s Sox preview odd, since he’s on the Cubs beat now. And, I’m pretty sure every other team is jealous of the Herm and Coop show on the South Side. :)

Also, I still have an unnatural attachment to Gavin Floyd. Just putting that out there, useless as though that information is, I feel like it requires repeating at regular intervals.

I just need to tell someone (and tell someone who will understand my situation), that I spent my lunch break scrounging the internet for any kind of video on CWS spring training. And I was so bleepin’ happy with the scraps I found, comparing notes with my sister. This is the best time of year, before I become disgusted with myself for spending so much energy on this.

@mlbfangirl, I squealed in my cube when I saw AJ’s first lockerside interview scrum. The “straight girl benefit” to being a sports fan.
