The important stuff after last night’s loss. Jake Peavy pitched a complete game. He looked quite good and just had two mistakes. One wild pitch and another that let a base runner get on.
This of course spiraled out of control that led to two runs being scored. Only one of those runs being earned as O-Dog made an absolutely terrible throw in the third inning to allow Geovanny Soto to reach base.
David De Jesus got his first career hit off Dirt Bag as well as two RBIs. Before all this happend, the Sox were up 1-0 over the Cubs on a ground-rule double hit by The Cuban Missile that drove in Alex Rios.
The score would stay 2-1 and the Sox would lose the game and yet ANOTHER series in intereleague play. Oh, and the Indians are now in first place thanks to beating the Reds.
There was a tiny bit of hope in the bottom of the ninth inning when Carlos Marmol came in for the save. Unfortunately for Sox fans, Marmol didn’t do his usual loading of the bases and blowing it. Instead, he managed to get the outs. His only blemish being that he walked AJ Pierzynski before getting O-Dog to ground out weakly.
It really is a shame that Dirt Bag had a tremendous performance go to waste due to a lack of hitting. And you have to wonder, what might have been had it not been for that [expletive deleted] by Orlando Hudson.
The worst match up of baseball season ends today with Mr. Consistently Inconsistent against Randy Wells. For all that is sacred, holy and good, let’s hope Consistently Inconsistent finds some new mojo to pitch well so the hitting can be just enough.
