Showing Up For Prime Time

Two pitchers from tonight's game, including the winner Jesse Crain

Well, it appears that is what the White Sox did tonight as they beat their old rivals by a final of 8-6. Things started out uneventful, but then the slugfest that I was expecting kind of happened.

The Brewers got the scoring going in the top of the second. The Sox would go on to tie the game and go ahead in the bottom of the second inning.

After that, things went back and forth between the two teams. Finally, the Sox would go ahead in the seventh inning. For added insurance, another run was plated in the eighth inning.

Dylan Axelrod surprised me and other fans I am sure. He managed to pitch decently tonight. He did run into trouble in the sixth inning when he allowed the Brewers to go ahead again (thanks to base runners he allowed to score due to ineffectiveness of relievers.) Will Ohman came in to the game to face George Kottaras. Unfortunately, George was lifted for a pinch hitter and the pinch hitter was a righty. Not exactly welcome news for a guy who is primarily a LOOGY.

After Will came Nate Jones and he too allowed some runs to score. At this point, it just looked like this was going to be one of those really bad nights for the Sox. Fortunately, the team rallied to come back and win the game.

The series is now tied and tomorrow will decide if the Sox finish interleague plague this season with a losing record or finish .500. Hopefully they take the series. After attending the first two games, I am reminded of how much I hated the Brewers back in the day. This probably doesn’t help with seeing so many fans of the team in the stands wearing Ryan Braun shirseys / jerseys. Oh and the PR team for the Brewers was even passing out signs for fans to hold saying vote for Braun for the All-Star team. Good for them, but seriously, that is just annoying.

But hey, as someone who really cannot stand interleague plague, this has been a series in it that I can get behind. Clearly there is history there and it actually makes sense for these teams to meet in play.

Now if the Sox will just make me super happy and spank the Brew Crew tomorrow!
