Are the White Sox coming around right on schedule? Yesterday afternoon, they won by a final of 5-2 over the San Francisco Giants. Granted, Barry Zito was pitching and he was . . . awful. He lasted only 2.1 innings before being chased from the game.

The offensive heroes yesterday? AJ Pierzysnki and that Alex Rios. Both had home runs. AJ even went opposite field with his home run. I am not quite sure to what to make of either Rios or Pierzynski hitting bombs. Well, it isn’t like either of them has hit many to begin with. In any event, this silliness of the bats coming around now is making me wonder if I am starting to drink the kool-aid with this team and it potentially being better than projected.

Yesterday also saw Adam Dunn strike out for the third time. Yes, only the THIRD TIME this spring. It was such an odd site to see when it happened given the rarity so far this spring.

In any event, as there are few days remaining in camp, this production and winning (the Sox are now 10-12 on the spring) makes me wonder if this team is finally coming around and will be ready to make an unexpected run at the division. I am now starting to really get anxious for the upcoming to see what will happen.

I still don’t think the Sox will finish very high in the division, but some things have happened of late with other teams to perhaps change my assessment of the division slightly. Later, I will have a post up about how things should turn out assuming things go as planned for everyone.
