76-64 this season

Last night was fun! The Sox actually pulled out a win against the Tigers. That win stopped the Tigers’ seven-game win streak against the Sox. Now, to keep the winning going. Tonight, Robin is sending out the following guys to take care of that and hopefully extend the AL Central lead to four games:

Alejandro De Aza CF, You, 3B, Dewayne Wise LF, The King 1B, Alex Rios RF, AJ Pierzynski C, The Cuban Tank DH, The Cuban Missile SS, Bacon 2B.

Jake “Dirt Bag” Peavy will start for the Sox tonight. Given how past seasons with the Sox have gone for Jake, it is almost hard to believe that tonight will be his 28th (!?!?!?!?!) start of the season. It will mark the sixth time he has faced Detroit as well.

All the man really wants is a little run support. Although he won’t say it, he could use it. In his last 15 starts, his ERA is a respectable 3.36, but he has only four wins during that stretch. His teammates just don’t give him any runs.

He did pick up his 10th win of the season in his last start against the Twins. In that game, he allowed one run on five hits in six innings.

Against the Tigers, he is 3-4 with a 4.81 ERA lifetime in 10 career starts. the last time he faced them was August 31 where he took the loss after allowing six runs on nine hits in six innings.

Jim Leyland (who is probably going through at least three packs of cigs per game now) is sending out the following guys tonight to move them closer to the AL Central lead:

Austin Jackson CF,Andy Dirks LF, Miguel Cabrera 3B, Prince Fielder 1B, Delmon Young DH, Brennan Boesch RF, Jhonny Peralta SS, Alex Avila C, Omar Infante 2B.

Doug Fister will start for the Tigers tonight. His last start against the Sox started out badly for him with him allowing four walks right away. Unfortunately for the Sox, he managed to work around it and not get a loss (settling for a no decision) and the Sox would go on to lose that game. Of course, that is pretty much guaranteed for the Sox in Detroit.

In his last start, he did settle down to his usual self and allowed just one run in seven innings of ball against the Indians. He also struck out six in that game. The last time Fister faced the Sox at the Cell was in April 2010 when he was a member of the Mariners. In that game, he also got a no decision. Tonight, the Sox will be looking for the bad Doug to show up and they can take advantage of that guy.
