New Severe Irritant. White Sox @ Royals August 18, 2012

65-53 this season

Three. In. A. Row. That is just unacceptable. The PITA Royals have won that many games agains the Sox in a row. Yes, their record is terrible. Yes, when you watch them play, you wonder what on earth is going on that they can’t be good in Kansas City. Yet, when they play the White Sox, they bring their A-game. In fact, the Royals seem to really enjoy being a spoiler.

No matter as Robin’s guy should hopefully take care of business tonight and stop the PITA Royals from being such PITAs:

Dewayne Wise CF, Youk 3B, Big Donkey 1B, The King DH, Alex Rios RF, The Cuban Tank LF, The Cuban Missile SS, Tyler Flowers C, Bacon 2B.

Jake “Dirt Bag: Peavy will start for the Sox tonight. It will be up to him to make sure his team has a chance to end the bleeding against the Royals. Jake will try to get his 10th win of the season tonight as well as even up his road record. On the road so far, he is 4-5 with a 2.90 ERA. Overall on the road, Jake has been pretty good. He has given up three or fewer runs in nine of his last 12 roads starts and has two complete games to go with it.

His last start was a no decision against the Blue Jays. In that game, he  threw eight innings where he gave up two runs on five hits. He also struck out six and walked two. The Sox would end up losing that games.

Against the Royals, Jake is 4-6 with a 4.84 ERA in 11 career starts. At the K, he is 1-4 with an ERA just below 6.00 in five starts. The last time Dirt Bag faced the PITAs, was last week at the Cell. He gave up three runs on seven hits in 6.2 innings. The Sox would go on to lose that game.

52-66 on the season

Ned Yost is sending out the following guys to keep messing with the White Sox:

Lorenzo Cain CF, Alcides Escobar SS, Alex Gordon LF, Billy Butler DH, Mike Moustakas 3B, Frenchy RF, Eric Hosmer 1B, Brayan Peña C, Johnny Giavotella 2B.

Bruce “Cy” Chen will start for the Royals tonight. Cy Chen won his last start against the White Sox on August 7 at the Cell. In that game, he scattered two runs on seven hits over 6.2 innings worth of work to pick up the win.

His last start was a loss against the Orioles where he allowed four runs on four hits and issued three walks in 5.1 innings worth of work. Though, that was a small setback for him as in the month of August he has been quite good in his career. So far, he has gone 20-10 with a 3.94 ERA in 65 innings worth of work. Last season, he went 5-1 in August.

Lifetime against the White Sox, Cy is 4-4 in 17 career games. Twelve of those games were as a starter. Oddly for Bruce, his wins against the Sox have come at US Cellular. There he has a 1.34 ERA in his last five starts.

*Notes: The White Sox are all about quality. Since 2003, they have led the majors in quality starts with 863 of them. Forget bobbling the ball or kicking it around. The Royals are now on a season-high eight-game streak of committing no errors in the field. Tonight would be a great night for that to end.
