Let’s Go! White Sox V Blue Jays July 8, 2012

47-37 this season

Today, the White Sox can do something amazing with a win. Even if that doesn’t happen, it won’t be ba as the Sox have already had a successful homestand and will finish the first half in first place. Robin is sending out the following guys to take care of business this afternoon:

Alejandro De Aza CF, Youk 3B, Big Donkey 1B, The King DH, Alex Rios RF, The Cuban Missile SS, The Cuban Tank LF, Tyler Flowers C, Bacon 2B.

Dylan Axelrod will start for the Sox today. Today is his fifth start of the season. So far over his career starts, he has gone 1-1 with a 4.06 ERA. HIs last start, he got a no decision against the Rangers on July 4 where he allowed four runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings. He did get his first career win in his only start against the Blue Jays last September. He gave up just three hits in six scoreless innings.

42-43 this season

John Farrell will send out the following guys in hopes of avoiding brooms today:

Rajai Davis LF, Colby Rasmus CF, Jose Bautista RF, Edwin Encarnacion 1B, Adam Lind DH, Yunel Escobar SS, Kelly Johnson 2B, Omar Vizquel 3B, Jeff Mathis C.

Brett Cecil will start for the Blue Jays today. Brett’s last start was his second quality start of the season. For him, that was good after he had come off his worst outing of the year. Thanks to his last start, he is now 2-1 on the season. In his career against the White Sox, he is 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA with six strikeouts. This is over 11.1 innings wroth of work.

*Notes: The White Sox are a season-high 10 games over .500. Philip Humber is still on rehab and seems to be doing well. He most likely will make one more rehab start before rejoining the team. The Blue Jays’ post All-Star break rotation shapes up to be Ricky Romero, Aaron Laffey, Carlos Villanueva, Hernderson Alvarez and Brett Cecil.
