Whoa! The White Sox won today’s game by a final of 4-3 over the Athletics. They had already assured themselves of having a winning road trip by winning Friday night against the A’s. Getting a win in the rubber match would just be icing on the cake and sure enough, they chose to get it done. The team will come home with not only a record of 6-3 on the road, but three series wins! Perhaps the West Coast isn’t so painful after all.

The final game against the A’s was interesting. Low scoring on both sides. Not surprising since the A’s offense is just as challenged as the White Sox offense. While the Sox did manage to get base runners today, they also seemed to hit into the most double plays EVER. Not really, but it seems now instead of finding a way to lose a game, they are now engaging in adventures in double plays. If they keep them up, I might have to start tracking them. Please don’t make me do this White Sox as it can only spell trouble for you.

The double play-itis so bad that Juan Pierre hit into two of them in one game. He has never done that before. Most of them were just laughable. Now I start to wonder if a guy is on first base, how exactly the double play will happen. This is a change from hoping certain guys wouldn’t bounce the ball into just the right spot to make it happen.

Mark Buehrle and Trevor Cahill were both pitching decently. They both got into and out of trouble on the day. Cahill gave up a solo home run to Alexei Ramirez and Buehrle gave up one to Coco Crisp. This despite Coco hitting below .200 from the right side of the dish. However, he does hit Mark well. Cahill also gave up 10 hits on the day. That in itself is a massiv feat for the Sox given the “usual” anemia of the bats.

Sergio Santos came in the ninth inning and continued his streak of not allowing any runs. He did walk a couple of batters to make it interesting. Of course, would this be the White Sox team we all know and sometimes love if things didn’t get interesting in the end? Jesse Crain also pitched and he was good as usual.

Hopefully home will be good. The Sox will be here for seven games, including three against the Los Angeles Dodgers of Los Angeles. See ya at the ball park this week.
