Finally! White Sox V Cubs June 20, 2012

35-33 this season

You’d think I would save the finally for Sunday when interleague plague concludes. But in my world, it is totally appropriate today because this series will be done. In all honestly, the Sox-Cubs matchup is my least favorite to see. Especially when you consider that if I must suffer through this plague, I could at least see some teams rarely seen. Thanks scheduling jerks for not doing this.

Anyway, Robin is sending out the following guys to try not to embarrass themselves:

Alejandro De Aza CF, Baon 2B! Big Donkey DH, The King 1B, Alex Rios RF, AJ Pierzynski C, The Cuban Tank LF, The Cuban Missile SS, Eduardo Escobar 3B.

Mr. Consistently Inconsistent will start for the Sox. And just like we do with almost every start he has, we hope Gavin will get his ish together.

Gavin in his last six is 1-4. He has also given up 35 runs in that span. Many of them have been of the “leave the yard” variety. Against the Cubs, he is 0-3 with a 3.67 ERA. The last time he faced them was last season where he gave up three runs on seven hits over seven innings.

24-24 this season

Meanwhile, Dale Sveum will send out the following group with brooms today and hoping they use them:

David De Jesus CF, Starlin Castro SS, Bryan LaHair 1B, Alfonso Soriano DH, Steve Clevenger C, Darwin Barney 2B, Luis Valbuena 3B, Reed Johnson RF, Tony Campana LF.

Randy Wells will start for the Cubs. Randy is getting the nod today because Ryan Dempster went on the disabled list prior to Monday’s game with right lat tightness.

Tonight will be Wells’ third start of the season. His last appearance was Saturday against the Red Sox. In that game he allowed one run on three hits while striking out one batter.

Against the Pale Hose, Randy is 1-2 with an ERA north of six. He last saw them last July where threw 6.1 innings and earned the loss in the game.

*Notes: With the win last night, the Cubs managed to get back to .500. Prior to yesterday’s game, Zach Stewart was designated for assignment and Dylan Axelrod was recalled.
