Bittersweet Sunday for White Sox Fans

Good luck in Boston, Lilli! You are a class act

The White Sox win the final game by a final of 1-0 in 10 innings. Great pitching all around by both teams. Jose Quintana picks up his third win of the season.

Eduardo Escobar ends up driving in the winning run. The Indians lost today so the Sox move back into first place.

The big news of the day of course, is the trade for Kevin Youkilis. In order to get Youk, the Sox had to give up Brent Lillibridge and Zach Stewart. No one is really going to miss Zach as he was recently demoted and really didn’t do much except give up tons of runs this season. Brent on the other hand, will be missed.

Sure, he wasn’t as thrilling as he was last season, but you just couldn’t help but root for him. He finally figured things out last season. And made the most of his opportunities to play. Unfortunately, he didn’t get much playing time this season which I’m sure hurt what he was able to do at the plate. However, when he was in the game defensively, he did make some amazing plays to save runs. Such as yesterday’s catch in center field that for sure would have resulted in at least a double.

At least the Sox have moved back into first place. And while they don’t have a winning record in Interleague plague this season, they did finish at .500. The team will now head off to Minnesota for three and then four games against the Yankees. Things aren’t getting any easier but at least now they have a legitimate third baseman who no doubt will put up better numbers than what has been coming from third base.
