The One Where Steven Stamkos Makes Us Feel Lazy

It’s been almost 8 months since the Tampa Bay Lightning played their last game. 8 long months. Players still hanging around North America are holding onto hope that there will be some sort of season. They’re doing all they can to say as close to playing shape as they can. This includes the league’s leading scorer, Steven Stamkos.

In the last week alone Stamkos has played in Operation Hat Trick in Atlantic City and returned home to Toronto to continue training. He has spent the last few summers at former teammate Gary Roberts Training Centre. The combination of work outs and focus on nutrition have transformed into one of the best players in the NHL.

Roberts has been posting some of Stammer’s workout videos on his Tumblr, allowing us to keep tabs on our favorite sniper. It’s tough to know which is more amazing: that Steven has survived this house of pain for so long or that Gary Roberts knows how to work Tumblr.

Nuts & Bolts: Classic Games Continue, Stamkos Keeps Training

-The lockout sucks. We can all pretty much agree  on that much. Hockey fans are going to great lengths to get their fix and Sun Sports seems happy to oblige us. “Classic” Lightning games began to be broadcast to fill the void left by cancelled games. It’s actually been a pretty awesome trip down memory lane.

Nostalgia will continue as the network will continue to show important games from seasons past on Thursday nights. This Thursday we’ll get to see the Game 7 defeat of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2004 Eastern Conference Finals. Next week it’s Marty St. Louis’ double overtime goal in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Calgary Flames.
