It’s never boring when the Tampa Bay Lightning and Philadelphia Flyers meet. Whether it’s the 1996 or 2004 playoffs, the holding the puck fiasco of last season, or the 15 goal game of two seasons ago. These teams always find a way to make things interesting. Tonight’s 5-1 Tampa victory was no exception.

Philly took an early lead on Sean Couturier’s goal, the first shot Anders Lindback faced in the game. In a departure from last season, the Bolts were able to keep pressing and rebound. A huge shot of energy game in the form of a fight from captain Vincent Lecavalier. Yes, you read that correctly. Vinny dropped the gloves.Seeing is believing.

It took some research to figure out the last time Vinny received a fighting major. Turns out it was all the way back on February 3rd, 2009.

Teddy Purcell got things under way for the Bolts, scoring on the power play at 14:34. It was the first of three points he would have on the night. Marty St. Louis ended the night with four assists. That’s eight assists and 11 points on the season for him. Eric Brewer, Vinny Lecavalier, Steven Stamkos, and Victor Hedman rounded out the scoring for Tampa.

For those of you playing along at home, that’s the third straight win for Tampa. It’s was also their third straight sell out game at home.
