Today we learned that the Syracuse Crunch, new AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning, have added Rob Zettler to their coaching staff. He will serve as an assistant to head coach Jon Cooper. Zettler spent the past four seasons as an assistant with the Toronto Maple Leafs and is a former NHL defenseman. (Source: theahl.com) Let’s hope he can help groom our up-and-coming defenseman as it’s well-documented that’s one of the areas where we’ve struggled in past years.
In other Bolts news, Lightning forward Martin St. Louis recently took in a New York Yankees baseball game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Marty is a summer resident of Connecticut, so it’s a short trip. Jays catcher JP Arencibia was quite impressed and made a point of telling St. Louis what he thinks of him and hockey in general, as can be seen in the video below.
