I have  confession to make. So far here on Midweek Muscles, we’ve featured only a few non-American players for the week (That would be Tamara’s fabulous dedication to Sergio Ramos, Toni’s equally fabulous post of Thierry Henry and Dana’s post of Canadian-American hottie Sydney Leroux). So yes, I’m partial to our good ol’ American boys and girls. They can play a damn great game of soccer and look amazing while doing so.

I have a good friend, however, that has shown me some of the fabulous players to be found in Italy. As if we would ever doubt there wasn’t a Midweek Muscles candidate lurking in Serie A. So, for my first European venture for MWM, I chose a player who has garnered my interest of late. I would like to introduce you to Daniele De Rossi.

This 6-foot, 28-year-old gorgeous blue-eyed Italian plays midfield for both the national team and AS Roma in Serie A. He’s a man about loyalty, having played for Roma his entire career – coming up through the youth system and signing to the senior team in his late teens – and recently renewing his contract with the team. He’s called “Capitano Futoro” by his Roma teammates as he’s a shoe-in for the captain’s band when current captain Francesco Totti decides to hang up his boots.

He’s not bad on the eyes, right? Scruffy, blue eyes, a penchant for taking his kit off…

Daniele also has a very gorgeous smile and isn’t too bad in a suit.

All in all, I’d say for my first trip to Italy for Midweek Muscles, I made a damn good pick, don’t you think?
