David Beckham Signs 5 Month Contract With PSG

It’s official! David Beckham has signed on the dotted line and is apart of the club PSG. If you can remember last offseason PSG offered a $12 million contract to Beckham on the offseason, which he declined. Then back in December, PSG’s manager stated that they had no interest in signing Beckham. All of this has now changed as he has signed a 5-month contract. This will make Becks’ 5th club he’s been apart of in his 37 years. (Man U, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, PSG.) He is undoubtably one of the most sought after players. Beckham had numerous offers from around the World, but passed in order to play for PSG. The club is in the knockout round of the Champions League and if they advance then Becks has a chance to win his fourth title with four different clubs.

In the Press Conference Becks stated that he chose PSG because he wants to help the club try to make a popular name for themselves. He wants to help grow the game, and he is “very honored” which he mentioned.. a lot. He threw down the hammer when he mentioned he turned down offers from the Premiere League because he didn’t want to play for anyone other than Man United (which didn’t offer him a contract). Beckham also mentioned that he wouldn’t have a salary while at PSG. He has decided to donate it all to a children’s charity! Now comes the question of what role he will play for the club. He’s no “spring chicken”, but everyone knows he does have the mind and game play of a player half his age. Many people are calling this move a brand move. Meaning that the 6 month deal is only for branding purposes and hopefully to bring more international fans to PSG. If anything, I hope this isn’t like the MLS Beckham Experiment… We all know how well that went over. If anything maybe this move is what both parties need. Becks is 37, He’ll be 38 in May… and PSG doesn’t have a strong international following.

Could this be the last we see of the almighty Beckham on a soccer field? Only time will tell!

  1. He’s wearing #32 in honor of Magic Johnson…you gotta love that they called him “grandpa” during the press conference – hilarious! Wait, does that make him a GILF? (Ok…that’s kind of ew…)
