The massive snowstorm that is headed into my area of South Jersey overnight has wreaked havoc over the South over the last two days. It is also ruining opening weekend for the college baseball season.
Duke is hoping to kick off their season on Saturday with a doubleheader, as Friday’s game against Binghamton has been pushed back to Saturday. The first game will begin at noon, with the second game set to start 45 minutes after Game 1 ends. Both games will be nine inning contests. The finale will be played on Sunday at 1pm ET.
The Blue Devils are hardly the only team being affected.
Georgia Tech is supposed to host the Battle in Midtown this weekend. They pushed back Friday’s game to 4pm ET against Old Dominion (Radford, who is also in the series, has reportedly arrived in Atlanta). The Yellow Jackets obviously have their fingers crossed.
As of right now, NC State’s season-opener at UC Santa Barbara has been cancelled, though the Wolfpack is trying to find a way to fly to California to play a Saturday-Monday series. However, both teams are also looking to play locally this weekend.
