Okay people, you have proven you cannot be trusted. I leave you with the big boys for a week, and I come back to an eight game losing streak. It is perfectly fine, I was not at all busting it working SEC baseball or anything. It is possible that sleep is overrated and leaving the city will never be necessary. On second thought, you guys just need to learn how to handle these boys!
Was it so hard to get Freddy Freeman his Oakley’s? Can nobody deal with FedEx? What took so long? Again, not to worry, the goggles are here, and obviously did the trick with a first at bat home run by Freeman. Granted, it was solo because Brian McCann, who needed me to bring him an IV bag after suffering from the flu, hit a two run homer. Which reminds me, all you who said “it’s just the flu,” have never had the flu. Here’s a hint, when you call in to work with a 24-hour stomach flu, you have misdiagnosed yourself. That is merely a hangover, and while you may feel as if you may die, you will not if you make it long enough to feel that bad. The flu is a different story. They have a shot for a reason!
While we are on ailing catchers, David Ross gets hurt while McCann is sick. How can you be so irresponsible? JC Boscan will probably remain with the big club until at least Tuesday while Ross recovers from a groin injury. Let’s not mention the fact that pitching is down, and I don’t mean in a good way- ERAs are up. Chipper needed days off and needles in his knees, but 15 day DL?
It is definitely the last time you are alone with the kids. Poor Tyler Pastornicky and Kris Medlin are headed north on 85 to Gwinnett. Kris will be fine, and was happy he could wear the same clothes to the ballpark two days in a row. After he has sufficiently stretched out to starter innings, he will be back. Who does that unseat- most likely Randall Delgado or Mike Minor. Even my positive vibes from Hoover letting Braves Country when Minor was being honored during the game that the Vandy Boys successfully pulled off a triple steal did not help poor Mike. Pastornicky on the other hand, may not be so lucky. Andrelton Simmons has been listed as the Braves #2 prospect, but will move to #1 shortstop Friday versus the Nationals. Tyler may be in Gwinnett for some time if Simmons lives up to his billing.
After a total of 17 runs scored against the second straight win over St. Louis, the Braves have started a new streak, and I am absolutely exhausted. Again people, I was working too! The next time I am out of town remember this before making a mess of things, “The maid is off, this is not a hotel, and your mother does not live here!” On that note, I am going to get some rest, and maybe I can enjoy the off day with the Braves!
