Sensational Breakaway is all Ottawa Senators, all the time. It is a part of Aerys Sports, a network run entirely by woman covering every team in every league. Its purpose is to provide the hard-hitting news fans want accompanied by analysis, insight and opinion with a healthy dose of serious, silly and even a little crazy.
Aisys Adona, the lead contributor and reporter, is a simple journalism student at Algonquin College enjoying her first semester as assistant sports editor for the school newspaper and aspires for a career in sports media. If the letters in her name throw you off, feel free to call her Ice.
Her every day essentials include: her BlackBerry to stay connected to the world (an admitted social media junkie), her iPod to provide the soundtrack of her day, a notebook and a coloured pen to articulate the doodles in her head, a hot latte and a smile.
Growing up with the Ottawa Senators made it an easy and natural choice to become a fan but her interest has evolved leaps and bounds over time. She has a special place in her heart for the Edmonton Oilers and Carolina Hurricanes and junior hockey wins every time. The World Junior Hockey Championships are classified as the most wonderful time of the year and the NHL Entry Draft always produces “Proud Mama” moments seeing the babies pull on those jerseys for the first time.
Some day, she’ll break into the male-dominated world of the NHL and rub shoulders with the best. Or maybe just elbows since she’s short.
