One of the more unpleasant things about dealing with the fallout of an Alex Rodriguez scandal is the amount of ridiculous scenarios mainstream writers will come up with to try and get rid of him.
To his credit, Alex released a statement saying he was working hard to get back and play baseball.
The following two pieces were posted to SB Nation where some of my favorite writers work.
First up, Mike Bates, one of SB’s Designated Columnists, wrote a piece for Pinstriped Bible in which he retcons history and imagines a Yankee world without A-Rod. Bates is a Twins fan and they seem to benefit the most from this A-Rodless world.
And Grant Brisbee, who is the lead editor of the McCovey Chronicles and who is also a featured author on Baseball Nation, basically explained that all of the talk of A-Rod’s contract being voided or of the Yankees completing a buyout are hooey. In other words, the Yankees need to deal with it.
