Two years ago today, Aerys Sports made its debut and after 1,382 posts, Second Place Is Not An Option is still going strong.

On February 1, 2011, this site was known as Spreadin’ the News and at the time, I was a nervous wreck. I had never really blogged about baseball other than complaining about it on my personal blog. I used more colorful language on that blog and I knew I had to be more thoughtful while posting here. It took some adjusting but this blog has survived.

The first post on February 1, 2011 was written by my contributor Margret Lovell and it was about Brian Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner possibly clashing. Some things never change.

And some things do.

Do I complain here? Yes. Do I use colorful language? Sometimes. But really enjoy running this blog and I’m proud of what we put out on a daily basis.

I also hope to be writing a 3rd birthday post a year from now.

So thank you to the people who read the blog daily, thank you to the people who occasionally stop by, thank you to those who encourage us to keep doing this, thanks to Ashley Teatum, Margaret Lovell, and a big thanks to Julie DiCaro for starting this wonderful network. I’m so proud to be a part of it.
