The Saints usually perform well for prime time, but that wasn’t the case on Monday Night Football. The Seahawks destroyed the Saints, 34-7, and ended the Saints’ nine-game winning streak on MNF.
The Saints struggled offensively with just 188 total yards. Brees completed 23/38 for 147 yards and a TD. Brees also fumbled the ball in the first quarter, which was scooped up and returned by Seattle’s Michael Bennett. This was Brees’ worse game as a Saint. Jimmy Graham was the Saints leading receiver with 42 yards and a TD on a 2-yard pass from Brees.
Seattle QB Russell Wilson easily lapped Brees, throwing for 310 passing yards and three TDs. Wilson was also Seattle’s leading rusher with 47 yards. TE Zach Miller was the Seahawks’ leading receiver with 86 yards and a TD. Doug Baldwin and Derrick Coleman also scored on passes from Wilson.
I guess I don’t get free shipping from the Saints Team Shop now.
The Saints are now 9-3 and tied with Carolina for the NFC South. The Saints host the Panthers at the Superdome on Sunday night. No pressure.
