Ryan Swope Retires From Football…For Now

It’s only been a few months since he was drafted, but former Texas A&M and current Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Ryan Swope announced that he’s retiring from football, at least for the time being, due to complications from concussions. Swope apparently sustained one recently and had four concussions in as many years when he played for the Aggies.

I give Swope props for both making the decision to step back from football and also for electing to return to school and get his degree. Hopefully by getting out of the game (even if only temporarily), he’ll be able to monitor his health situation and make an informed decision about whether or not he can ever get back on the field.
