Today’s Headlines: Bye-bye, Boynton!

Trade bait update as of February 25th. FINALLY.

Nick Boynton was placed on waivers today. I’ll miss him being a pylon, his inability to play defense despite being paid to be a defenseman, and his unwavering commitment to taking the dumbest penalties known to man when the Blackhawks finally had momentum going their way. It was like having Matt Walker back in the lineup. Ah, memories…

I mean, John Scott is functionally useless, but at least he’s funny about it.

So, what’s next? Unconfirmed Twitter reports say that the Blackhawks have put in a claim for Buffalo Sabres captain Craig Rivet, who’s on re-entry waivers. If you don’t know how waivers work — you might be Evgeni Nabokov or the St. Louis Blues, who didn’t think of looking up “waivers” on Wikipedia.

In other news…

Bobby Hull is going to be at the Rockford IceHogs game on February 26th. He has obviously heard about my tales of drunkenness off of one “large cocktail” at the game (it was three-fourths vodka!) and has come to see about this for himself.  (Rockford Register Star)

The Blackhawks @ Capitals game on Sunday, March 13th has been flexed to be the NBC Game of the Week. It will air at 11:30am CT. (TV By The Numbers)

Ex-Blackhawk Adam Burish defends Patrick Kane. Aw, their bro-love endures! (ESPN Chicago)

And an informative article by the Wall Street Journal: Where The NHL Stashes Its Mistakes. Cristobal Huet, the erstwhile Blackhawks goalie, is mentioned. (WSJ)
