So. The Blackhawks lose for the first time this season.

But, since they lost in a shootout, they still get a point, so… it could be worse, I guess?

Yeah, let’s be honest — I’m not really all that upset about this loss. It was bound to happen. I’m just glad it happened against a team I don’t really mind all that much.

No, NBC Sports Network, no matter how much you try to convince your audience otherwise, the Minnesota Wild are not the Minnesota North Stars (they moved to Dallas in 1993, remember?), and there is no real rivalry between the Blackhawks and the Wild. They’re not even in the same division (yet — let’s see how realignment goes). Please stop trying to make this a thing.

So, instead of rehashing the game, let’s see some real rivalry action: Blackhawks-North Stars video after the jump! Time to kick it old-school.

From The Vault: The Last Minute Of The Minnesota North Stars

This saddens me.

I didn’t know this before today, but the Blackhawks were the last team to play the North Stars before they moved to Dallas — a sad end to such a storied rivalry. After the jump, watch the last minute or so of the North Stars’ existence.

NHL, if you must move another franchise, at least allow their fans to say goodbye like this.
