So I guess this is where I’m supposed to tell you that Jonathan Toews‘ dumbass fight against Joe Thornton, like, sparked the Chicago Blackhawks to victory against the San Jose Sharks or something? But really, the Blackhawks looked like the dominant team the entire game, so I don’t know if you can really spark something that’s clearly on fire already.
The fight took Toews off the ice for nine minutes and put his team on the penalty kill for four minutes for starting a fight with his visor on along with boarding. So, really, it was dumb and could have totally swung the momentum the Sharks’ way if the penalty kill wasn’t so on point this year. You lucked out this time, Toews.
Almost two years later, and here we are again: a nice, round zero in the Nashville Predators‘ goal column.
Of course, the Preds helped out, only getting seven shots on goal in the first two periods and 17 shots the entire game. The Blackhawks blocked almost as many shots — 14 — as Crawford saw.
I mean, there isn’t really much to say about this game other than it was very… efficient. The Blackhawks got the pucks in deep, took advantage of a tired opponent, and put the game away without much fuss in about 66 seconds. It was nice to see that sort of confidence from the team again.
Ray Emery will more than likely be in net for the Blackhawks, but it hasn’t been confirmed. (@TramyersCSN) Miikka Kiprusoff will be in goal for the Flames. Pretend to be shocked by this information. (@RogMillions)
Injury Report: Daniel Carcillo (knee) is still expected to be out until late February. Michal Rozsival is still questionable with a lower-body injury, as is Dave Bolland, who suffered an injury against the Canucks last night. For the Flames, Sven Baertschi is out with a hip injury, while Anton Babchuk will be sitting with a back injury.
I’m suffering through a migraine right now, so forgive me for the shortness of this preview.

With the ratification of the CBA, the Blackhawks were officially able to recall players from Rockford. Their first round of call-ups featured seven players: forwards Brandon Saad, Brandon Pirri, Brandon Bollig, Andrew Shaw, Marcus Kruger, and defensemen Nick Leddy and Ryan Stanton.

The end of week 13 brought the IceHogs’ only trip into Ontario for the 2012-13 season. In theory, the games should have been on total opposite sides of the spectrum considering the Hamilton Bulldogs sat near the bottom of the Western Conference and the Toronto Marlies sat atop the Western Conference. But, both games had similar outcomes, which weren’t in the Hogs’ favor.

After the Christmas break, week 12 held two home games for the IceHogs against divisional opponents. The beginning of week 13 also held an important divisional game as the Hogs battled for sole possession of first place.

There were only two games scheduled for the IceHogs in week ten and if they wanted to gain sole possession of first place in the Midwest Division, they had to win both of them. Well, that didn’t go as planned.

Week nine was filled with Midwest Division opponents for the Rockford IceHogs. Fortunately for the IceHogs, two of the games were on home ice. The Hogs also looked to extend their three game winning streak.
