As most of you know by now, a selection of former and current Blackhawks, in addition to players from around the “World”, played a charity hockey game on Friday night at the Allstate Arena. The good news is over $300K was raised for the Ronald McDonald House near Lurie Children’s Hospital. The bad (or perhaps best) news was that the game was so beyond ridiculous that you had to laugh. And cry. It was better than “Cats.”
The World Team beat the team of assorted Blackhawks 16-15 in a shootout. Because we take journalism so seriously here at Runs On Duncan, I humbly present to you a summary of this game, courtesy of the most awful, silly and absurd photos I took while in the third row.
Warning – extremely photo-heavy post after the jump. If you still own a Blackberry, I’d hate for it to burst into flames if you try to view this.

Some of you may remember me as your erstwhile Chicago Express reporter. Well, as we all know, the Express went to the big ice rink in the sky shortly after the conclusion of their inaugural season. So what is a newly minted Chicago-area ECHL fan to do?
The upcoming 2012-13 ECHL season has seen four new teams added to the league, including two “local” entities, the Fort Wayne Komets and Evansville IceMen. I say “local” because in reality, Kalamazoo is closer to either one of those locations from Chicago, and it’ll be a cold day in hell before I root for the Wings (*gag*).
So my allegiances (and somewhat limited reporting skillz) has fallen behind the Toledo Walleye, the farm team of the Blackhawks and dreaded Detroit Red Wings. What sadist in the Toledo front office came up with that marriage made in Hades?

We all know how Duncan Keith spent his suspension (pumping iron, underwater breathing exercises, combing Seabs’s hair), but what about Shaw? A very reliable source informed me that he’ll be using his upcoming free time to commune with nature.

In which the bunny is me...and every other fan right now.
I could try to put together something that looks like a review that would be upset and then give you a glimmer of hope at the end, but I am just too disappointed to even write something like that. I just…I can’t. I’m afraid I would lapse into profanity and then it wouldn’t be anything but anger and negativity.
Let’s face it, as long as we get on the board next game, it’s already a better game than this one.

In light of Kat unvieling “Warmups” as a pre game what’s what, I thought that the post game wrap up should get a little redo as well. Hence: “Cool Down”…not as clever, but eh, it’s the thought that counts, right?

TIS OBVIOUS.
So, as I was sitting at my desk trying to write this game recap, I thought to myself: “Megan, what is there to say?” (Not a whole damn lot). » Continue reading “Cool Down: Blackhawks 0, Kings 2″

No little tidbit from me today…I am looking forward to a fast paced hockey game that I will be keeping tabs on from me phone tonight. Yup, late work night with no t.v. to watch hockey on. Booo

I really have no energy to write up a full review on this game. I had high hopes that the Blackhawks were going to take to the ice at home and put the Coyotes out to pasture. But I wasn’t impressed at all with the lack of energy I saw and had to turn the game off at one point. I can’t even blame Crawford…it was just overall poor playing from everyone and the lack of effort up front ended up with goals in the net. The only plus was Sharp finally getting us a goal so they Phoenix goalie didn’t leave the building with a shutout.
So, with that, I can only hope that the next game will be a little more successful and we pull out the win. Because if anything, I am an optimist and I know that Coach Q will probably chew them a new one before then.

Blackhawks fall to Edmonton 9-2.
I just can’t…it’s a good thing I wasn’t able to live blog because the amount of profanity out of my mouth was staggering.
