Wow: Chicago Blackhawks 8, Dallas Stars 1

Nick Leddy, Viktor Stalberg, and Bryan Bickell all had three-point nights.

Marian Hossa and Jonathan Toews scored two goals a piece.

Brandon Bollig, uh, skated for 9:51 — a new NHL record for him.

But I know what everyone is talking about, and it’s none of those things.

They’re talking about the Patrick Kane spin-o-rama goal that made Denis Savard beam with pride after the game like Kane was his only begotten son (which, honestly, he kind of is).

Well, here it is. This will be on the highlight reel when the Chicago Blackhawks raise #88 to the rafters in twenty years.

Fill In The Blanks: Chicago Blackhawks 5, Minnesota Wild 3

Hossa is a boss. A Bossa, if you will.

Hossa is a boss. A Bossa, if you will.

After last night’s game, Jonathan Toews said that he’s running out of words to describe the streak the Chicago Blackhawks are on.

Well, guess what, Toews? So am I!

Unfortunately for me, I’m supposed to come up with words… but I’m taking the night off. See, instead of me describing what happened in the game against the Minnesota Wild, I’m going to let you, the audience, do it using the power of Mad Libs! I’ll provide a list of words you’ll need, and then after you fill in the blanks, you can go on and read your recap.

What More Can I Say?: Chicago Blackhawks 4, Columbus Blue Jackets 3 (OT)

The Chicago Blackhawks are now 18-0-3.

I… what? Really?

I mean… I don’t even know what else to say about this.

I am out of words about this streak!

So let’s talk about this game.

…Actually, let’s not talk about the game, because, well — I don’t want to. Go watch the video you know you want to watch — Jonathan Toews‘ unbelievable no-look pass to Brent Seabrook for the winner. Shakespeare would have written sonnets about that pass.

17-0-3: Chicago Blackhawks 3, St. Louis Blues 0

It took all of 12 seconds for the Chicago Blackhawks to score the game-winning goal against the St. Louis Blues, and it was a beauty. The pass went from Brent Seabrook, to Duncan Keith, to Marian Hossa, to Brandon Saad, who deflected the puck off of Jonathan Toews‘ skate and past Jaroslav Halak to make it 1-0.

You need to see this goal for yourself. It’s just everything good and pure about the Blackhawks right now.

Boring But Effective: Chicago Blackhawks 1, Columbus Blue Jackets 0

Only goal scored. Only goal needed. (Photo: Mel Boysen/flickr)

One of these days, sooner rather than later, the Columbus Blue Jackets will learn how to score. Hell, they had a few good chances against the Chicago Blackhawks tonight, with only a couple of bad bounces off of the post keeping them off of the score sheet.

Sucks To Suck: Blackhawks 6, Coyotes 2

Two goals in this game? TRADE HIM. (Photo: Bridget Samuels/flickr)

The question was inevitable, no matter how hard we tried to avoid it: How would the Chicago Blackhawks respond to the return of Raffi Torres to the Phoenix Coyotes lineup after serving his 21-game suspension for this hit on Marian Hossa?

Jamal Mayers began the answer to that question when he dropped the gloves with Torres early in the first period.

Hjalmarsson Goes To Italy

Don’t get too excited, Hjalmarsson haters. The Blackhawks will get him back after the lockout is over. (Photo: Bridget Samuels/flickr)

Niklas Hjalmarsson becomes the latest Blackhawk to go to Europe, signing with the HC Interspar Bolzano-Bozen Foxes of the Italian Serie A.

This makes Hjalmarsson the sixth Blackhawk to head overseas.  Michael Frolik was the first to sign with a European team, going to Piráti Chomutov of the Czech ExtraligaMichal Rozsival then signed with HC Plzeň in the same league. Soon after, Bryan Bickell signed with Orli Znojmo of the Erst Bank Eishockey Liga, also known as the Austria Hockey LeagueViktor Stalberg signed with Frölunda of Elitserien. The biggest name to make the jump across the pond was Patrick Kane, who signed with EHC Biel of National League A in Switzerland.

Of course, this means we once again turn to Google Translate to butcher the latest press release. Take it away, Google!

Bickell Goes To Austria

I wonder if you can fish in Austria… (Photo: Bridget Samuels/flickr)

Bryan Bickell becomes the third Chicago Blackhawks player — and first Blackhawk from North America — to sign with a European team. (As previously reported, Michael Frolik was the first to sign with a European team, going to Piráti Chomutov of the Czech Extraliga. Michal Rozsival then signed with HC Plzeň in the same league.) He broke the news himself via his Twitter last night.

Bickell signed with Orli Znojmo of the Erst Bank Eishockey Liga, also known as the Austria Hockey League. You know what that means. Time to destroy — er, translate another article with Google Translate! This is a long one, so read it after the jump.

It’s Blackhawks Locker Clean-out Day

And so, the Blackhawks begin their summer vacation early again this year.

But not before facing the media.

(The links will lead to videos on the Blackhawks website.)

Joel Quenneville on…

Assessing all areas: “The one thing is you got a nice core here — you got a nice group of guys here, and that gives you a chance every year — a chance to win a championship.”
Competitive playoffs: “Everyone wants to find a way to get done.”
Complementing the core: “I think team chemistry is something, going forward, should be a concern.”
Goaltending: “In Corey’s case, we expect him to get on that track where’s he’s going to get better.”
Need for size and toughness: “Our D — they move the puck well.”
Areas of need (such as a second-line center): “Strength in the middle is important.”
The power play: “This year from the outset, it struggled all year.”
