Happy 29th Birthday To The Blackhawks’ Duncan Keith!

Today is a special day on Runs On Duncan — for our namesake, Duncan Keith is celebrating his 29th birthday. You’re nearly at the top of the heap! It’s all downhill from here!

I kid, of course. We love Duncan Keith around here, so let’s all sit down and watch him be awkward and nearly put us all to sleep with his soothing voice.

Happy 26th Birthday, Dave Bolland!

Photo: Bridget Samuels/flickr

It’s still his birthday for a half-hour in Chicago, so it counts!

Dave Bolland was born on June 5, 1986. He’s been death glaring ever since.

Check out his By The Numbers article, then read these articles reviewing his season: Second City Hockey, Blackhawk Up, CSN Chicago.

Finally, make sure you stop by DaveBolland.com and The Dave Bolland Foundation. Maybe you can even drop a few dollars, if you’re so inclined. The video after the jump is from his foundation’s kickoff party. See Bolland as you’ve never seen him before — cleaned up and in a suit!

Happy 22nd Birthday, Marcus Kruger!

Marcus Kruger was born on May 27, 1990. So, yeah, he’s only 22. I suddenly feel very old. I suspect this feeling will continue every year until science perfects robot bodies, and I have my brain transferred into one.

…Wow, that got weird very quickly. Anyway, Kruger was featured in the Blackhawks article Blackhawks By The Numbers: Rookies, which you should go check out. You should go check out the following articles reviewing his season: Second City HockeyBlackhawk UpCSN Chicago.

Happy Birthday, Jonathan Toews!

Jonathan Toews was born on April 29, 1988. He’s now in his 24th year of being serious.

Here’s a video that proves that he was a serious-faced hockey player ever since he was a child.

Happy Birthday, Sami Lepisto!

Stay flawless. (via @SamiLepisto)

Sami Lepisto was born on October 17, 1984. I’ve tried to come up with a clever comment about this, but seriously — look at that picture up there. I can’t say much else, can I?

Ever wanted to hear Lepisto speak Finnish? Of course you have. Check out the video after the jump.

Happy Birthday, Sean O’Donnell!

Rockin' the dad suit. (Photo: Mel/flickr)

Sean O’Donnell was born on October 13, 1971. This makes him the first Blackhawk to play at 40 since Tony Esposito in 1984.

Mr. O’Donnell, you are old (in hockey years, anyway). How old? The Sun-Times has dedicated an article to your aged state.

But he was pretty sure he didn’t play in the last NHL game at Winnipeg Arena as a member of the Los Angeles Kings before the Jets moved to Phoenix.

Turns out he did. He even had a shot on goal, according to the box score on hockey-reference.com.

Senior moments like that should be forgiven. Hawks defenseman Nick Leddy probably doesn’t remember what he was doing that day, either. But he was 5 at the time.

Happy Birthday, Coach Q!

His first birthday as an American citizen. I'm so proud!

The man. The myth. The mustache.

Joel Quenneville was born on September 15, 1958. Following a great tradition of championship coaches with legendary mustaches in Chicago (Mike Ditka, Phil Jackson), Coach Q will always have a place in Chicago’s collective heart for finally leading the Blackhawks back to the Stanley Cup in 2010.

Watch Q on WGN-TV’s morning news here and here. If you want a blast from the past, check out Q giving an interview as a Hartford Whalers player after the jump.

Happy Birthday, Duncan Keith!

Happy Birthday, Dunc! (Photo: Bridget Samuels/flickr)

Today is a special day for Runs On Duncan, for it is the day our namesake, Duncan Keith, was born, all the way back in 1983.

I know I bust his chops a lot on here (it was so easy to do last year — let’s be honest), but he really is one of my favorite players on the Blackhawks, and I’m proud to have named my site after a terrible pun involving his name. So, happy birthday, Mr. Keith. I hope you wished that next year goes better for you than last year. It’s already taking a step in the right direction with your wedding (congrats on that, by the way), am I right?

Happy Birthday, Ben Smith!

Ben “F—ing” Smith was born on July 11, 1988. He’s been kicking ass and taking names ever since.

I know he’s not technically a Blackhawk right now, but we all know that he’s pretty much penciled in on the roster unless something drastic happens. So I’m wishing him a happy birthday. Screw the facts — I do what I want!

Happy Birthday, Chris Campoli!

Chris Campoli was born on July 9, 1984.

Yeah, yeah, happy birthday and all that — but would you please re-sign already, Campoli? Come on, man. Do it for the kids!
