The Chicago Blackhawks take on the Colorado Avalanche tonight at 8:00pm CT. The game will air on Comcast Sportsnet+ (CLTV for most cable/satellite systems) in Chicago.
And so, the last game between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Columbus Blue Jackets as Central Division rivals ended the way it started this season — with a one-goal win by the Blackhawks.
(Except this one was via the shootout, which shouldn’t even be a thing, but whatever.)

The Chicago Blackhawks won against the Colorado Avalanche in regulation after trailing in the second period — the fifth time they’ve done that this season.
After last night’s game, Jonathan Toews said that he’s running out of words to describe the streak the Chicago Blackhawks are on.
Well, guess what, Toews? So am I!
Unfortunately for me, I’m supposed to come up with words… but I’m taking the night off. See, instead of me describing what happened in the game against the Minnesota Wild, I’m going to let you, the audience, do it using the power of Mad Libs! I’ll provide a list of words you’ll need, and then after you fill in the blanks, you can go on and read your recap.
It took all of 12 seconds for the Chicago Blackhawks to score the game-winning goal against the St. Louis Blues, and it was a beauty. The pass went from Brent Seabrook, to Duncan Keith, to Marian Hossa, to Brandon Saad, who deflected the puck off of Jonathan Toews‘ skate and past Jaroslav Halak to make it 1-0.
You need to see this goal for yourself. It’s just everything good and pure about the Blackhawks right now.

One of these days, sooner rather than later, the Columbus Blue Jackets will learn how to score. Hell, they had a few good chances against the Chicago Blackhawks tonight, with only a couple of bad bounces off of the post keeping them off of the score sheet.
Since both Casey and I felt that we couldn’t put off talking about the Chicago Blackhawks versus the Vancouver Canucks game for a week, we decided to have a Very Special Episode of The Quiet Room to discuss the game.
Topics include:
Jannik Hansen‘s hit on Marian Hossa, for which he was suspended one game (check out the NHL’s explanation for the suspension after the jump)
The Blackhawks giving up the lead in the third
Pulling out the shootout win (thanks to… Andrew Shaw!?)
The responsibility of coaches speaking to the media after questionable plays

After the jump is the NHL’s video explaining Hansen’s suspension.
The Chicago Blackhawks took to the ice at Soldier Field today for a scrimmage with the Wounded Warriors hockey team, a team that is made up of wounded United States veterans. Check out a couple of pictures from the nhlblackhawks Instagram and a video of Patrick Kane mic’d up at the scrimmage after the jump.
