Royals AFL Week 4 Update

It was a short week in the Arizona Fall League, with their annual All-Star Game being held on Saturday night in Surprise. The Peoria Javelinas are still in last place at 9-12, but are moving up in the standings with a solid week (4-1).

Right fielder Jorge Bonifacio was back in action on Monday after not playing since October 23rd. He went 1-for-4 with an RBI before being pinch run for in the ninth. Overall in the week, he went 2-for-12 with a double and five strikeouts. He was the only KC Royals representative in the Fall Stars Game last night and he went 1-for-2. He started in right field and batted fifth.

Cheslor Cuthbert was also in the lineup on Monday, as he played third base and batted fifth. He went 1-for-4. His only other game was on Halloween, when he went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout.

Orlando Calixte also only played in two games last week. He played shortstop in both. Overall, he went 1-for-7 with a double and a strikeout.

After playing in five games last week, Lane Adams only played twice this past week. He was back in action on October 30th, going 1-for-2 with his first AFL double. In that game, he batted ninth while playing centerfield. He walked twice and scored a run. On November 2nd, he went 2-for-4 and stole his first base. In that game, he played right field and batted eighth. However, Adams struck out twice over those two games.

Malcom Culver and Angel Baez continue to pitch on the same days. Both made their first appearance of the week on October 29th. Culver pitched the sixth and allowed a hit while striking out one in his inning of work. He threw 18 pitches, 12 for strikes. Baez pitched the 7th inning and picked up the win. He pitches a perfect inning of relief, throwing nine of his 12 pitches for strikes.

On November 2nd, Culver earned his second hold in the AFL. He entered with two men on base and left them stranded. Over 1.1 innings, he struck out one while throwing 11 of his 15 pitches for strikes. Baez also picked up his second hold in the AFL. However, he allowed a solo home run in his one inning of work. He threw seven of his 16 pitches for strikes.

Noel Arguelles made just one relief appearance for the Javelinas last week and that came on Halloween. He walked two in the 6th inning, but escaped the jam. He threw just 12 of his 25 pitches for strikes.

Jason Adam got back on track in his start on November 1st. In picking up his first AFL win, he allowed just two hits and two walks over five shutout innings. He struck out three. Adam threw 43 of his 71 pitches for strikes.
