Twitter Thursday: Jaguars Mini Camp Update

With an announcement by Mularkey early in the week that all players attendance is mandatory; Mini-camps are in full swing in Duval.

Well almost everyone took that announcement seriously…

It is no surprise (or at least it shouldn’t be) that the Jaguars star running back, Maurice Jones-Drew has been absent all week.

MJD has made it clear he wants a new contract, the franchise has made it clear that he will not get one.

While the news of MJD’s absences seems to be the highlight of camp, there is still other news of what is actually happening in Duval.

Twitter Tuesdays – Jacksonville Searches For 1st Winning Streak Of Their Season

After the Jaguars clinched their third win of the season, fans are eager for the Jags to continue the winning streak. In week 11, the Jags travel to Cleveland to finish their third consecutive road game.

It’s that time during the NFL season where it seems there are more injured players than healthy players. Luckily, the Jaguars are not the only team facing this issue. In a series of tweets from @JaguarsInsider there are two players injured that will significantly affect the team.

It was announced yesterday that Rashean Mathis won’t return this season, after being placed on IR due to an ACL injury. Since Mathis is on the last season of his contract, there is a good chance we will not see him on the field in a Jaguars jersey again. Jack Del Rio is counting on the younger players to step up & take over Mathis’s responsibilities.

Speaking of Eben Britton….

I don’t know about you but I love that the Jaguars signed Paul Posluszny this season. Between his on-field performances & off-field demeanor he makes a great addition to the team.

With players flying off the roster to IR every week, the Jaguars picked up a few additions this week.

Should I mention now how excited I am that George Selvie has signed to the Jaguars? I share my fellow classmate, @MilesLam95’s enthusiasm. As a USF alum, I’m thrilled that I will once again be able to cheer for a familiar face!

The Jaguars aren’t the only team being plagued with injuries.

Just when Texan fans were counting their eggs before they hatched; they received news that their star QB will be out for the remainder of the season! Looks like the AFC South division title wasn’t clinched after all! Just the mid season meltdown from the Texans I’ve been hoping for all season!

On a side note… Did you see the guy who already got a Texans Super Bowl tattoo?

What do you think he said after hearing the news about his beloved QB? Hopefully he has scheduled a meeting with his tattoo artist for Plan B.

With the Browns this week… the Texans at home (11/27)… another home MNF vs. the Chargers (12/5)… & last but not least hosting the Bucs on (12/11)… The schedule is finally beginning to favor the Jaguars. Looks like it’s just in time for a miraculous turn around!

Last but not least, if you didn’t see my post last week on Scott McAskill, make sure to check it out. Captain Mojo needs our help to win the “Most Dedicated Fan” contest in which he is representing the Jacksonville Jaguars. Let’s show the rest of the NFL that the Jags Nation is as strong as ever!

It’s GO Time: Jags v Titans (Week One)

Jacksonville Jaguars

VS

Tennessee Titans

 September 11th, 2011 @ 1pm

The Jaguars open the regular season hosting their division rivals Tennessee Titans at EverBank stadium with tomorrow’s kickoff starting at 1:00pm. NFL fans across the nation are waiting to see how the Jags perform after cutting their starting quarterback, David Garrard, 5 days before opening day. Replacing him will be Luke McCown, who is backed up by the Jags first round draft pick, Blaine Gabbert.

The Jaguars finished preseason (1-3) with their only win versus the Atlanta Falcons. Jack Del Rio is ready to start the regular season with his fresh, healthy team. During preseason he limited the starters playing time to allow some players time to officially recover from injuries & to expand with the depth of the team. The only player to not play at all during the four preseason games was Eben Britton, due to a back injury, but he is ready for week one.

The Titans have finally reached an agreement with RB Chris Johnson, who missed part of preseason due to the negotiations. Matt Hasselbeck joined the Titans during the off-season to fill the quarterback position. The Titans will be coached by former offensive line coach Mike Munchak, who has taken over for the departed Jeff Fisher.

Currently, the Jags rank 2nd in the NFL for their kickoff weekend record (10-6), behind the Denver Broncos. Usually Duval is plagued with extremely high temperatures during week one, however this year the temperature should be more appealing since it will be in the mid 80s. This will be the 33rd meeting between the Titans & Jaguars with the Titans leading the series (18-14), the first 4 wins are from the Houston franchise. Jacksonville managed to lift the blackout for week one in a last minute push during the requested extension. You can watch the game locally on CBS 47 or tune into WOKV AM & FM (690, 106.5).
