After a decade in the NFL, Marcus Stroud has announced his plans to retire. Not however, before he signs a one day contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Jaguars first round draft pick in 2001 made a major impact on the Jacksonville franchise.
After the Georgia alum was drafted by the Jaguars he spent seven years dominating the field in Jacksonville. Marcus Stroud & teammate John Henderson were an unstoppable dynamic duo from 2002-2006.
Stroud ended his career in Jacksonville with 274 tackles and 22 sacks; along with being voted for the Pro Bowl as a starter in 2003, 2004 and 2005. In 2008 he was traded & played in Buffalo for 2 seasons, before he went to New England in 2010.
After being released by the Patriots & accepting his body just isn’t bouncing back the way it used to, he has decided to make one final trade, back to his home.
“That’s where I started my career, I consider Jacksonville like my second home,” Stroud said. “That’s where my quote unquote football family is based. That’s where I felt like I gained my notoriety. That’s where I’ve always been at heart. I was a Jaguar from Day 1, and I’ll be a Jaguar now.”
Stroud isn’t the first Jaguar to return to his roots; he joins Tony Boselli, Fred Taylor, Paul Spicer and Donovin Darius in the ‘Jaguars-for-Life-Club’.
