Welcome to Roaring Black N Teal. My name is Corinna Evans & I’m the lead reporter for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aerys Sports. As an avid Jaguars fan I am here to keep you up to date with everything going on the world of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Being a Jaguars fan is something I take pride in. At no point will anyone ever say I am a band wagon fan & I was definitely not raised to be a Jags fan.
If life worked out the way my mom wanted I’d have been a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. If life worked out the way my dad wanted I’d have become a Denver Broncos fan. To make this even more confusing, I was born in Massachusetts & my parents were season ticket holders for the New England Patriots. At this point you are probably thinking how in the world did this girl become a Jacksonville fan then?
Well luckily for me, I only lived in New England until I was 7. In the spring of 1995 my family moved to the east coast of Florida. For those of you that are die hard fans like me know that is the year the Jacksonville Jaguars became apart of the NFL. However, with parents like mine it was not easy to convince them we were going to go against their ways & become a fan of the Jaguars.
My mom was especially reluctant since the Jags were joining the same division as the Steelers. My parents were still supportive & would take us to Jaguars home games each season.
I was also reluctant to take on a favorite football team at first. I had seen my mom, dad & brother’s moods change dramatically after their team lost. I thought to myself, “why would anyone let a silly game ruin their day?” Well I was soon to find out that being emotionally attached is just part of being a fan.
After I graduated from Palm Bay High School, I started to pursue my bachelors degree in Marketing at the University of South Florida. After hearing a presentation in high school about Sports Management degrees offered at various colleges I decided I wanted to pursue sports in my future career. I mean what could be better than making money & living out my passion for sports?
Eager to get involved on USF’s campus I came across a sports marketing internship. I was only a freshmen with no experience but the interviewer loved me & hired me as their newest Sports Marketing Assistant. For the next three years I learned the ins & outs of sports marketing & game day execution for all college sports.
I am currently live in Tampa & work as an Account Coordinator. When I am not working & watching sports I love to go to the beach, spend time with my puppy – Cooper, & travel. I am also what I like to call a “part-time” runner.
