Oklahoma Sooners All-Big 12 Awards Announced

The All-Big 12 conference awards were handed on Wednesday and while the top honors were given to Kansas State, naturally  the Oklahoma Sooners still had a fantastic showing.

Since the beginning of the Big 12 conference, the Sooners have had the most players make the list with 27. This season, they didn’t take home any individual awards but made the first, second and honorable mention cut.

First team included: Defensive back’s Tony Jefferson and Aaron Colvin, fullback Trey Millard and offensive lineman Gabe Ikard.

Second team: defensive back Demontre Hurst, defensive end David King, wide receiver Kenny Stills, offensive lineman Lane Johnson and running back Damien Williams.

Honorable mentions: Landry Jones, wide receiver Justin Brown, punter Tress Way and offensive lineman Daryl Williams.

Out of all the players listed, only five were seniors. The rest were all juniors and one sophomore. The seniors will be playing in their last game in a Sooner uniform on January 4th in the Cotton Bowl against the Texas A&M Aggies.

Offensive Freshman of the Year
J.W. Walsh, Oklahoma State, QB, Denton, Texas
Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Nick Florence, Baylor, QB, Sr, Garland, Texas
Defensive Freshman of the Year
Devonte Fields, TCU, DE, Arlington, Texas (unanimous)
Chuck Neinas Coach of the Year
