Blazers: The Streak Is Over

After a win on Saturday night at the Rose Garden, I can officially say going into tonight’s game in LA against the Lakers that the Blazers are on a win streak.  I know what you’re thinking, “she’s crazy she can’t call it a win streak after one win.”  Well, yeah, I can.  Especially with this Blazer season I have learned that you have to take it where you can.  However tonight at the Staples Center the Blazers ended their win streak with a 103-92 loss to the Lakers.

Much of the news today centered on Blazer big man Greg Oden.  Oden had undergone microfracture surgery on his left knee again and his return to the court for the 2011-2012 is no longer a possibility.  This is the fourth knee surgery for Oden who has played only 82 games for the Blazers.  My heart goes out to him.  There’s no one who wants back on the court more than him.  Usually microfracture surgery recovery is up to a year so hey let’s shoot for next season!

In the meantime the Blazers still have games to play.  LaMarcus Aldridge reentered the starting lineup on Saturday after he suffered a pretty nasty sprained ankle and was the lone bright spot for the Blazers with four points in the first quarter the Blazers were 3-17 from the field and only managed to put 7 points on the board, their lowest in franchise history.  Score at the end of the first 29-7, Lakers.

Blazers Send Grizzlies Back To Hibernation

Best sign of the night in Sec 106: It’s Sixth WOMAN time!

The Blazers playing back at home in the Rose Garden against a Memphis squad who have won seven–in-a-row were able to get the W, 97-84, and keep their home record looking nearly flawless at 8-1.

LaMarcus Aldridge started out hot going 5-for-5 from the field and scoring 14 before missing his first shot.  With his first two baskets of the night Aldridge tied Blazer great, Kevin Duckworth, for 10th place on Portland’s all-time field goals made list with 2,848. Despite pulling his groin last night Marcus Camby grabbed 8 boards in the first quarter on his way to a monstrous game on the glass. The Blazers had been shooting 77% from the field at the midway point in the quarter but cooled off considerably and ended the quarter in a 25-25 tie with Memphis who closed out the first on a 15-5 run.
