With a walkoff RBI single from call-up Jason Bourgeois, the Rays snapped their losing streak last night. Tampa Bay beat the Mariners 5-4.
Alex Cobb returns to the mound for the Rays tonight for the first time since he was hit in the head by a linedrive on June 15. Tampa Bay currently sits three games back from Boston in the AL East standings.
And now for an update on the stadium situation: MLB Commissioner Bud Selig says the league will “intervene” in the Rays’ search for a new stadium.
This line from the tampabay.com article about the development doesn’t leave me hopeful for any kind of “quick” resolution:
The commissioner’s office occasionally has injected itself in other local stadium disputes, including a committee that for years has tried to find a new stadium for the Oakland A’s.
