As I was in a sinus medicine induced slumber last night, the Tampa Bay Rays snapped a five-game losing streak with a 7-1 win over the L.A. Angels. Tonight, Jeremy Hellickson returns to the mound after spending a week in the minors to rest. He’ll face off against L.A’s Jered Weaver. The Rays currently hold the second AL Wild Card spot.
Now for more on the never-endingstadium story. St. Pete Mayor Bill Foster wrote the following in a memo to City Council:
“It has become apparent to me that Major League Baseball has no intention of assisting the city and Rays in reaching a mutually beneficial solution. Nor does Major League Baseball seem interested in a cooperative effort to keep the Rays in the Tampa Bay Region for the long term.”
Beautiful. Just beautiful.
