Dodgers Struggle on All Fronts

Today’s game started out on a low note, and then continued to fall and fall and fall. Broxton was benched with elbow pain. Ethier was scratched with elbow pain. Uribe was knocked out of the game after getting hit by a pitch. And the Dodgers allowed the Cubs to hit 3 homeruns. The Cubs. Final score: 5-1.

Lookin’ good:

Hong-Chih Kuo. Kuo was brought in in relief and pitched a scoreless, hitless inning, allowing 1 walk. While not completely dominant, he looked to be returning to his old form.

Lookin’ not so good:

Ted Lilly. Lilly has struggled this season. Today alone, he gave up 3 home runs and 5 runs. When an offense is struggling so mightily, like the Dodgers, giving up 5 runs is not ideal.

Lineup. The Dodgers trotted out what looked like a minor league lineup today, save Matt Kemp. I mean honestly, you can’t do much with an infield of Carroll, Mitchell and Miles.

The Dodgers head to the east coast to take on the New York Mets followed by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Let’s hope they can use this trip to take advantage of two struggling teams.
