The Pittsburgh Steelers don’t have long to bask in the warming glow of the season’s first win… in Week 6. Newly acquired OT Levi Brown was placed on Injured Reserve after suffering a triceps injury in pregame warm-ups. Brown was acquired for a draft pick in a trade with the Arizona during the Steelers’ bye week and never saw a snap as a Steeler.
- Rain on your wedding day.
- A free ride and you’ve already paid.
- Good advice that you just didn’t take.
Who would have thought it figures?
As for the Steelers, they will not lose out on a draft pick. Brown needed to be on the active roster for five weeks.
In other injury news, the Steelers also placed TE David Johnson on Injured Reserve. Johnson, who has been one of the few consistent bright spots for the Steelers’ offense this season, injured his wrist in Sunday’s victory over the Jets.
No Fun League
Look out, Pittsburgh. Mike Tomlin is coming to take away all your fun and merriment from a locker room near you. First he banned games from the locker room. Next up on his banned list? Flips into the end zone.
As a former substitute teacher who was quick on the draw when it came to revoking recess from misbehaving first graders, I fully support Tomlin’s decision to remove games from the locker room. He may also want to look into making the team do math problems or vocabulary work if they continue to lose. And when it come to flips? Why risk injury or mistiming your leap and fumbling at the one yard line (with the way this season has been going, that’s a possibility) for a Madden move? Just do a horrible dance that will be mocked on the internet like everyone else.
More Roethlisbergers on the way!
On Monday Ben Roethlisberger announced that he and his wife are expecting their second child next spring. Their first child, Ben Jr. will turn one next month. Congrats to the Roethlisberger family!
