Philly Flavor at the Combine: How Did They Do?

In advance of the NFL Scouting Combine, Philly Sports Muse contributor Roy Burton gave a preview of some of of the names and faces that would represent Philadelphia in the event. Now that the 2011 Combine has come and gone, let’s take a look at how those players performed at the big event.

Muhammad Wilkerson
Defensive Lineman, Temple University

Combine results -
40 Yrd Dash: 4.96
20 Yrd Dash: 2.78
10 Yrd Dash: 1.73
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 27
Vertical Jump: 26
Broad Jump: 08’10″
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.59
3-Cone Drill: 7.31

Wilkerson received considerable buzz from his performance at the combine. His workout put him in the top 3 of defensive tackles in this year’s draft class, according to NFL Draft Scout.

Jaiquawn Jarrett
Safety, Temple University

Combine results -
40 Yrd Dash: 4.62
20 Yrd Dash: 2.60
10 Yrd Dash: 1.54
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 14
Vertical Jump: 30
Broad Jump: 09’05″
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.14
3-Cone Drill: 6.95

Jarrett’s results at the bottom of the pack among free safeties for the broad jump and bench reps. Jarrett received a 9’5″ result for the broad jump, and only recorded 14 bench press reps. As Burton noted, Jarrett is a bit undersized for the position but his agility makes him one to watch come the draft.

Pat Devlin
Quarterback, University of Delaware

Combine results -
40 Yrd Dash: 4.81
20 Yrd Dash: 2.78
10 Yrd Dash: 1.67
Vertical Jump: 33
Broad Jump: 09’08″
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.32
3-Cone Drill: 7.08

In a quarterback class that features big names such as Blaine Gabbert, Cam Newton and Ryan Mallet, it is difficult for other QBs to make their mark. Devlin’s overall draft stock is likely unchanged from his combine performance.

Benjamin Ijalana
Offensive Lineman, Villanova

Ijalana didn’t participate in the combine as he is recovering from a sports injury. NFL. com’s Gil Brant expects he “should play for a long time” in the league.
