DeSean Jackson Finally to Make Appearance at Lehigh

Number 10 reports for duty today at Lehigh. For real this time.

Philly.com’s Les Bowen reports that DeSean Jackson arrived at camp late last night.

Reports surfaced this weekend that Jackson would finally end his holdout on Monday. Mike Vick spoke to the dissatisfied wideout this weekend.  The rumors were later confirmed by Jackson’s arrival at Philadelphia International airport Sunday night at 8.

Jackson arrived with everyone’s favorite agent, Drew Rosenhaus, in tow.

D-Jacc has been absent from training camp since it began on July 28. He wants his deal to be restructured, demanding more than the $600,000 base salary he is due to earn this year. The Eagles have been clear in their message that they will not negotiate until Jackson arrived at camp.

If Jackson had failed to report by Tuesday, he would lost one year of credit towards free agency, which he would become eligible for next year.

What kind of deal could the Birds make with Jackson? The team is about $4 million under the salary cap. The team may seek to do an extension of Mike Vick’s contract (who was placed with the franchise tag just before the start of the lockout) before working on a deal with DeSean.

A little bit more time and patience may be required of Jackson. But he won’t have much opportunity to dwell–the team is busy preparing for its first preseason game this Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens.
